Feast of Christ the King

Reigning from the cross

On this great feast we rejoice in calling Christ our King. Yet the Gospel of the Mass portrays him, not sitting on a throne, but hanging on a cross. Jesus’ death may have seemed a defeat: it was not. It was a victory-the victory of love over hate, and good over evil. Our sins are a blight on our service of Christ. But let us call to mind our sins, confident that Christ, who forgave the repentant thief, will forgive us too.
